FLEDERMUSE MUSE LIST
(Every muse on this blog is an original character or an original take on an existing concept!)
THING.
DISCLAIMER: This muse is horror-based, and contains depictions of body horror. To block this muse from your feed, please filter the tag #m:thing .
Pronouns: They/it
Age: Unknown, adult
Notes: Heavily based from John Carpenter's 1982 The Thing, Thing is an alien creature that seeks to gain DNA and knowledge from other species. While my portrayal is more or less the same basic concept, my interpretation does not like turning into humans. Thing is able to sustain itself on any kind of food so long as it has "claimed" a species that can eat it. Claiming is the process of completely digesting another organism by spitting dissolving acid onto the victim, and consuming the remaining fluids. Thing can be killed by normal means; they have the vulnerability of any creature they turn into.
More about Thing:
- They are possibly able to be redeemed/befriended
- There is a difference between claiming and consuming for nourishment. Claiming sacrifices the opportunity to eat, but gives another disguise to shapeshift into.
- Like any organism, Thing can starve to death. If it does not eat, and instead claims all of the time, it will die.
- Coat variations, such as a red fox vs. an arctic fox, are distinct. In order to have that coat, they must claim that specific color.
- Claims can expire. After 5 years of not claiming a specific animal, their DNA is lost and must be claimed again.
PHIL ROSETTE.
Pronouns: He/him
Age: Early to mid forties
Notes: Phil is a homeless man suffering the effects of paranoid schizophrenia and alcoholism. After stealing a necklace from a fellow homeless resident, he pawns it off for cheap and acquires an unusual curse -- That being, when he becomes too distressed, his mind becomes "feral", and he acts much like a dog. He also now permanently has misshapen dog teeth.
EARL CAVENDISH.
Pronouns: He/him
Age: Early fifties
Notes: Mr. Cavendish is hired as a very affordable servant - or, butler, rather. But, be warned - He was accused of poisoning the child of his previous workplace. He insists he is innocent ... But perhaps that is why he is so cheap? (He also has a zootopia verse, where he is a poodle!) More info available here.
IKE AND AIBO.
FACECLAIM: Icons of Ike are sourced from Aias Dalman playing as Jacob from Good American Family. FCs of Aibo are from various media.
Pronouns: He/him, any
Age: 13 years, ageless
Notes: Ike Fuller is a bright young boy from 2010 that has powers beyond comprehension. When he discovers a high-tech robot dog with the ability to travel alternate universes and timelines, he escapes his abusive mother to explore all there is to see.
HORATIO ORION HUCKLE.
Faceclaim: Lestat De Lioncourt of The Vampire Chronicles
Pronouns: He/him
Age: 35 years
Notes: Horatio is a victim of the "reincarnation and rebirth" series. He was an average Australian-to-American man living in Georgia until a fatal car crash took his life and he awoke into a strange new world where, to his surprise, there is no record of him ever existing. He maintains the same memories, same body, and same thoughts, but there is absolutely no documentation of him ever existing in this world. Because of this storyline, he fits perfectly into crossovers with a differing timeline/universe (rdr, Bojack Horseman, Fallout, etc.), but he is at a bit of a disadvantage surviving in some of these worlds because he's... well, not the sharpest knife in the block. Horatio is unable to truly die, and no matter what injuries he incurs, they now heal within an hour or so. He experiences pain and discomfort just like everyone else, however.
Established verses:
NIPPY.
DISCLAIMER: All icons of Nippy are either from Fallout 4 gameplay or faceclaimed from the Air Bud movies.
Pronouns: She/her
Age: Unknown, adult
Notes: Nippy is a talking dog, mainly adapted for the Fallout 4 universe, but she can be adapted for other franchises and situations. Mainly, the gist of her story is that the intelligence and speaking capabilities she maintains is from a woman that was killed many years ago. Scientists of The Institute utilized the woman for an experiment, which involved placing a chip into a golden retriever's brain. This, along with more complicated wiring, allowed Nippy to speak. Nippy does not know this, thinking she must only be a hyper-intelligent canine by chance, but occasionally gets vague glimpses of the life she used to have as a human. She leaves the institute as she realizes that she is only a tool for them rather than a citizen.
